Conscious Digital Detox: Your Summer, Your Rules!

After a grueling school year, your brain and eyes are screaming, “No more screens!” This summer, I’m proposing more than just a vacation: a conscious digital detox . It’s not about disappearing off the face of the earth, but about regaining control of your time and attention. Ready to truly recharge? Why is this key for you, university student? Hyperconnectivity takes its toll: stress, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, and mental exhaustion that you’ve been carrying since exams. Disconnecting will help you:
  • Reduce stress and fatigue: Your mind calms down, your body relaxes.
  • Improve sleep: That blue light before bed is an enemy.
  • Increase your concentration: You will train your attention for the next course.
  • Encourage real relationships: Less scrolling, more face-to-face conversations.
  • Reconnect with yourself: Discover what you are passionate about without distractions.
Your guide to a summer digital detox:
  1. Set clear limits: Decide which devices and apps you’re going to limit and for how long. No phone during meals? No social media in the afternoon? Start small.
  2. Airplane mode, your best friend: Use it more often. Silence notifications and create “tech-free zones” in your home, like your bedroom.
  3. Out of the bedroom: Don’t let your phone be the first thing you see when you wake up or the last thing you see when you go to bed. Find an analog alarm clock.
  4. Find attractive substitutes: It’s not just about removing, but also about adding. Change screen time to:
    • Outdoor activities: Hiking, beach, swimming, bike rides.
    • “Analog” reading: A good paper book. No links or pop-ups!
    • Creative hobbies: Painting, writing, playing an instrument, cooking.
    • Real connections: Invite friends over, call your grandmother, plan a day with your family.
Poco a poco, irás creando nuevos hábitos.
Este verano, date permiso para aburrirte un poco, para mirar el techo y dejar que tus pensamientos fluyan. Es en esos momentos de calma donde la creatividad y la verdadera recarga ocurren. ¡Tu bienestar lo agradecerá!
